How Can We Be Right with God?
This is perhaps the most important question in all of life, and one that would reward us richly to consider. God is good, kind, and patient, yet many of us do not truly know Him. He can seem distant, and because He is perfectly holy, He is far removed from our sinful way of life. At the same time, He is exactly what humanity needs. Only God can straighten us out, cleanse us from sin, and make us objects of His favor.
The Bible says that “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). We know that darkness cannot remain in the presence of light. Likewise, the prophet Isaiah wrote, “Your sins have separated you from your God” (Isaiah 59:2). Our sins have created a barrier between us and the One who made us.
Isn’t this the condition of humanity? We naturally stray from God’s ways and often find obedience difficult. The Bible tells us that mankind has suppressed the truth, exalted human pride, and taken pleasure in unrighteousness. Millions of people around the world are caught in the same trap. Scripture also warns that “whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).
God’s Answer to Our Greatest Need
The good news is that God has made a way to restore us.
Out of His great love for fallen humanity, God came into the world in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus willingly gave His life on a Roman cross, shedding His holy blood to pay the penalty for our sins. Through His death and resurrection, He broke the power of sin, conquered death, and made forgiveness available to all who believe in Him.
With miracles confirming His authority, Jesus declared that He is the only way to the Heavenly Father (John 14:6). God calls every person to repent of sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ alone. To those who surrender to Him, He freely gives forgiveness, new life, and peace with God. Those who reject His offer remain under judgment, separated from the One who alone can save.
Seek God While He May Be Found
We simply must get serious about life and seek the loving and holy God who created us.
Open a Bible and learn all you can about the wonderful blessings God offers to those who know Him. As you seek Him, He will guide you according to His wise and loving plan. He will transform your life, fill you with His peace, and use you for good works that bring glory to Him and blessing to others.
The hope God offers extends far beyond this life. The Apostle Paul reminds us of the glorious future awaiting those who love God:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
