Many Questions Arise...

Many questions arise when one purposes to adopt a religion. The number of options is staggering – over 8000 are available in this world. And what is the actual source of truth? Does anyone know? Many religions are very old and the original proponent is not even known. That one dreamer may have been a sage or a scoundrel. He may have been very clever and enjoyed the skill of persuasion and simply gathered many friends and supporters who elevated his writings to eventual popularity. Besides, doesn’t an easy majority of people naturally take on the religion of their parents? What nonsense! How could everyone’s parents advise as to the highest source of wisdom? And shouldn’t we see a greater and obvious quality of the greatest truth of all? It should agree with clear science and reliable history, be supported by numerous eye witnesses and writings from his own time.

Only the historical Jesus fulfilled numerous ancient prophesies, worked countless miracles of healing all kinds of sicknesses, widely impressed multitudes by his faultless moral conduct, arose from his tomb to live again after his cruel murder, boldly claimed to his opponents his divinity, and immensely blessed humanity with his teachings of love, justice and peace. Surely he has taken first place for consideration in whom to trust to guide one’s life and destiny.

We all know when we look in the mirror that we did not create ourselves. It is plain to see that the Creator created the creation. And God Almighty highly values the magnificent and intelligent creatures of his design. The Bible assures us that he wants us to seek him, respect and obey him, and at the end of a temporary stay in this world, to be raised to his heavenly home to enjoy oneness with him in unimaginable joy forever.

Sin has utterly destroyed this divine plan. Pride, selfishness and rebellion arising in mankind has separated him from the Giver of Life and condemned him to death. The only way to restoration had to be worked by God himself. And this he has actually done by the love he has for his own people. At a time of his choosing he himself came down into our world and paid the only worthy price to allow full forgiveness for such a tragedy — the death of a holy substitute – Jesus, the promised Holy One in the bosom of the Father from the beginning. This sacrifice was made 2000 years ago on the cross of Calvary as history records it. We learn from The Bible all the details of mercy, repentance, faith, salvation and new life. There is no other way to escape divine wrath and final doom. This is the judgment our timeless Creator requires.

Christianity offers unique aspects that make it an appealing choice for those seeking answers to their deepest questions. Here are some reasons why Christianity can be considered a religion that provides answers to our inquiries:

God-Knowledge And Relationship With God

Christianity teaches that there is a personal and true God who created the world and sustains it. It offers the possibility of establishing a personal relationship with God through prayer, fellowship, and spiritual practice.

Historical Validation

The story of Jesus Christ, his life, teachings, death and resurrection are described in the Bible and supported by historical documents and archaeological findings. This gives Christianity a special significance and credibility.

Love And Mercy

Christianity teaches the supreme value of love and mercy. The teachings of Jesus Christ on forgiveness, compassion, and service to neighbors are the basis for creating harmonious relationships and developing moral values.

Meaning And Direction

Christianity offers a deep meaning of life based on faith in God and doing His will. It helps us realize that our lives have value and purpose and inspires us to strive for spiritual growth and service to others.

Grace And Salvation

Christianity teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. The doctrine of grace and salvation offers the hope of deliverance from sin and the promise of eternal life in the presence of God.

Primary Scripture

The Bible, the sole authoritative text for Christianity, contains wisdom, principles, and guidance for life. It offers us standards of behavior, ethical principles, and advice to help us make wise decisions and live morally.

The Rescue - Forgiveness
and New Life

On a grand scale we have to face reality. The human experiment is a failure. The whole world is in wretched condition with suffering, plagues, hunger, injustice, war and greed everywhere while thousands of religions abound but with no clear solutions. Ignorance reigns while we remain bound in our human moral imperfections. Who can deliver us from this ruin?

The Holy Bible is an ancient book of wisdom with divine answers and yet is shunned and ignored by multitudes. Why? Our Maker cares greatly about those he put on this planet but makes it clear that it is our natural and persistent waywardness that separates us from him. Now, knowing the problem, we find that he himself provides and reveals the solution. He alone can cleanse and purify us. All world history has shown that we are that corrupted!

In accordance with his holy principles, and due to the inability of our own works to cleanse our natural waywardness, he determined to provide a way of forgiveness himself. It came by the marvelous love he had for his creations. He made the sinless blood of the Savior to be the only perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty for our guilt forever.

Only Christianity makes this extraordinary claim. The divine God came to this hopelessly fallen world in Jesus Christ, born miraculously through a chosen Hebrew virgin woman and lived a man’s life perfectly and with supernatural miracles, and concluded his merciful mission in voluntary submission to a cruel death on a Roman cross. He himself paid our penalty to gain our forgiveness. He rose from the dead to further prove his claims of deity. Now those who sincerely repent of their sins and believe and trust in that holy blood sacrifice receive full pardon and everlasting life. He taught ‘I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’ (Luke 5:32)

Indeed he had taught, ‘Do not be amazed that you must be born again.’ Millions of new-life Christians the world over have demonstrated this genuine conversion. The other side of salvation regards the final exclusion of the careless, unthankful and ungodly ones who insist on remaining apart from Him.

‘Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.’
Matthew 7:13,14

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world.’
1 John 2:15,16

‘He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me, and where I am there my servant will be. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honor.‘
John 12:25,26

This is the Christian message of the ages! It is not the teaching of the world. Far from it! The Truth from heaven could not have been imagined.

We can see that ‘If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’ Now he works in his new-life followers to straighten and perfect each of those committed to Him.

Life’s First Great Decision

1

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel
of the ungodly,
nor stands in the path of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

2

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law he meditates day and night.

3

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season; whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
(Psalm 1:1-3)

You will feel the power of the righteousness of God working in you! Through the old Bible, get to know your Maker who originally designed us all to live beyond mortality to share with Him the closest fellowship and all the glories of His paradise for eternity! We have much to learn from the Bible to see the new Christian life fulfilled in us.

See what a close personal God we have. Learn the precious promises he holds for his children and live by his ways:

Once fully committed and converted to the Savior sent from God you will be enabled to understand his teachings and to live out the new life and to receive his promises. As Jesus taught, ‘I have come they that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

Christianity is so much more than a religion. It is a close relationship with our Creator who has always loved us with the desire for our rejoicing with him in paradise for eternity. Thank you for taking this free basic course in the Christian ‘religion’. Now we can spread it around as we all need the new life regeneration that only God can give us.
