How Do We Stand with God?

This is perhaps the most important question in all of life and one which would reward us richly to think about. God is good and kind and patient, but we don’t know Him! He seems too far away and, being holy, He is far removed from our way of life. At the same time He is exactly what humanity needs. Only He can straighten us out, clean us up and make us worthy of His presence and objects of His favor.

The Bible says that God is light (I John 1:5) and we know that no darkness can stand in the presence of light. The prophet Isaiah said “your sins have separated between you and your God” and turned Him away from hearing you. (Isaiah 59:2) Isn’t this the way of mankind in this world that we tend to stray and find obedience to be hard? What’s worse, He could convict us many times over as He says in the Bible that mankind has suppressed the truth (Romans 1:18), exalted his own pride (II Corinthians 10:5) and taken pleasure in unrighteousness. (II Thessalonians 2:12) Millions of people around the world are caught in the same trap, as He says that “he who would be a friend to the world makes himself to be an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

The good news is that He has made a way to correct and restore us. He Himself came into the world in the form of Jesus Christ and, with an amazing love for His fallen creatures, paid all of sin’s penalty for us with His own holy blood on a Roman cross. With miracles to prove His teachings He declared Himself to be the only way to the Heavenly Father. God demands repentance of sin and faith in this one Redeemer, and abundantly gives forgiveness and new life – but only to those who surrender to Him. All the rest go to judgment without hope.

We simply must get serious about life and seek after the loving and holy God who is our very Creator. Do this and let Him reward you with the freedom and happiness that only He can give. Get hold of a Bible and learn all you can about the fabulous blessings offered to those who know God. Then He will guide you according to His wise and wonderful plan and fill you and use you for many good works and your future will be truly secure!

“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” Isaiah 1:18

“With many words he testified and exhorted them, saying: Be saved from this perverse generation.” Acts 2:40

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” I Corinthians 2:9
