Do you every wonder, “Am I forgiven of my sins?” or “Do I have to atone for my sins?” Thankfully, forgiveness is available.
How was this forgiveness accomplished? Only by the marvelous grace of God himself and mercy much greater than anyone could ever imagine to deserve! He came down to earth himself in the human form of Jesus Christ for the purpose of offering the only worthy sacrifice, his holy blood, to pay the penalty of death for our sins which we deserved.
Hebrews 9:12-14 tells us that ‘…with his own blood he entered the most holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats [under the Old Testament covenant] sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?’
Textual evidence for this essential truth of ‘once and for all’ appears again in Hebrews 9:26, 28, 10:2,10,12 ‘one sacrifice for sins forever’, 14:’one offering’, :18 ‘no longer [any other] offering for sin.’ The full sin price was paid – salvation by faith became available!
1Peter 2:24 confirms that Jesus Christ won our forgiveness ‘in his own body on the tree,’ adding in 1Peter 3:18 ‘For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.’
That any genuine Christian or church should teach that there is a new sacrifice for sins by the Savior in some repetitive ceremony for his crucifixion is clearly and obviously contrary to the Holy Scripture.
