Under the Law of Moses sins could be covered at the temple in Jerusalem by the sacrifice of the blood of clean animals. Hebrews 9:22 says “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” But the Hebrews could not be faithful in the Old Covenant so the New Testament records the coming of the Savior to make a new covenant in which he himself paid all of sin’s penalty for us in the sacrifice of holy blood on the cross, to grant, after repentance of sins and full faith in him, to gain pardon and eternal life.
But by the devices of men a separate creed arose to begin insisting that Christ’s holy blood sacrifice on the cross was not sufficient to forgive fully all of our sins. This is a tremendous insult to the Savior sent from heaven to be our Redeemer. Ephesians 1:7 assures us that “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” They teach that sinners must repeat by experience the sacrifice again by taking certain holy elements administered by a priest in a ceremony!
The true Bible doctrine is so vitally essential to Christianity that its details of finality are repeated in Romans 6:10, Hebrews 7:27, 9:12, 10:10 and 1 Peter 3:18. Hebrews 10:14 even adds that “by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”
